On my way to visit a Northern Goshawk nest, I discovered a Hairy Woodpecker nest in a non-treated power pole on the perimeter of the local outdoor rink. Amazing to think that this little bird has such power as to create a nesthole in such a tough fiber. I've seen such nest holes in dead/rotting trees but, in such a pole, is unique to my discoveries.
